Chandler Jones won't play Sunday, might be out awhile

CSNNE:
The sprained ankle Patriots rookie defensive end Chandler Jones is dealing with will likely cause him to miss Sunday's game at Miami.

The injury is a mild high ankle sprain, not as severe as the one suffered by Aaron Hernandez in Week 2 against the Cardinals. Hernandez missed four games before returning for Weeks 6 and 7, then missed another three games before playing against the Jets last week.

Nooooooo!

Well this sucks. Chandler Jones = the Patriots pass rush.

Sure, the defense has had two of it's best games largely without him in the lineup, but let's not get carried away here. The Patriots are great at getting turnovers, it's by design, but it's not going to happen every week. The Chandler Jones loss is HUGE, and we can only hope he's able to get healthy in time for games against the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers.

Sure, Jones is tied for as many sacks as Rob Ninkovich, but sacks are a misleading stat. Chandler Jones has been the only player to provide a consistent pass rush. Ninkovich has been timely and has cleaned up some rushes started by Jones or Vince Wilfork.

Chandler Jones has been the MVP of this defense, the team won't last long without him.

Jones injured his ankle early in the game against the Colts, he did not practice at all last week (the team didn't really practice anyway) and sat out the Jets game.
