Bill Parcells says New England is spoiled by the Patriots

Former New England Patriots coach and new Hall of Famer Bill Parcells knows a thing or two about his former team. He especially knows how good they are. So, of course it was Dan Shaughnessy who brought up some of the criticism that the Pats have been getting for supposedly becoming a 'finesse team'. To this Parcells' immediately and powerfully responded "NO!" He then continued:

“Who says that? They ran the ball good this year,” Parcells said. “I don’t know what happened in the playoffs, but here’s what I say to you guys in New England: You guys are spoiled. Really, you are. You’ve got to remember how the other half lives. You forgot. I was there for it, so I know. Just remember, you could be like some of these other franchises that you see. You got a couple of ’em in your division.’’

Yup, you read that right. The thing is though, he's 100% correct. New England Patriots fans are as spoiled as they come and if you don't think so, then you have no idea what you're talking about. I'll be as short and sweet as possible with this (in no particular order); 16-0 regular season, greatest performance by a quarterback (Brady) and wide receiver (Moss) in a single season in 2007, Brady is the league's first unanimous MVP in 2010, make it to the Super Bowl in 2011 on an emotional ride dedicated to owner Robert Kraft's late wife Myra, most consecutive wins with 21 in 2003-2004, when Brady went down in '08 the team rallies around young-gun Matt Cassel, and oh yeah.... THE DYNASTY.

The saddest (or should I say the best) part is that this list is just off the top of my head; there are countless other memories. There's a reason that the Pats are hated by fans of other teams around the league; they're the best. Like Parcells said, we Pats fans don't know what it's like to have our team suck. When was the last time the Patriots were considered a below-average team? Even in '08 when Brady was hurt and they didn't make the playoff, they won 11 games! We are currently witnessing greatness at it's finest and I'm personally happy that Parcells called out all of New England on that, because we sometimes overlook that. There's only a handful of teams that you can actually expect to be serious Super Bowl contenders year in and year out.

Anyways, here's the article on Parcells and the Patriots from NBCsports.com. Check it out, it's a good read with solid quotes. Oh, and this is for Dan Shaughnessy and anyone else who thinks the Patriots are a finesse team:

Have to love Jerod Mayo!
