Dennard's Verdict Opens the Door for Talib Deal

With Alfonso Dennard found guilty today, serious jail time could be looming for the Patriots Life “Rookie of the Year.” Although reports say that Nebraska police have been known to falsify charges and the prosecution “broke down with their own witnesses claiming they didn’t see anything” it wasn’t enough to get Dennard off-the-hook.

With Dennard facing jail time, does this force the Patriots hand when it comes to signing, or franchising, Aqib Talib? Talib will now be the only starting corner candidate that knows the playbook and is a proven commodity. With Dennard in the lineup I felt that the Patriots could go get someone serviceable and more reliable and not miss a step, for the most part.

Either way the Patriots needed someone, but it’s now going to cost them more money to grab someone out of free agency than it did for Dennard’s rookie deal which is still in place. No details are out yet about how much time Dennard could be faced with, if any at all, but it does lay the groundwork for a Talib deal to be made. Tell us what you think.
