Changes to the Tuck Rule

The competition committee had one of their conference calls today and among some of the rule changes is one made famous by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Yes, the tuck rule as we know it is no longer.

The old rule was that if a quarterback was in the throwing motion and went to bring the ball back and lost it, then it was ruled an incomplete pass. The new rule, in effect immediately, discontinues that aspect of the rule, so now a quarterback in a throwing motion, that is attempting to bring the ball back and loses it, will be charged and ruled a fumble.
