Patriots were already pursuing Danny Amendola this past weekend

I wish this was about the guy not in a cast

We posted on the Patriots interest last week and Adam Schefter is now reporting that the Patriots went on to pursue Danny Amendola in free-agency.

A lot of people are linking Amendola to the Patriots as a Wes Welker replacement. Maybe just because he's also short and white. The knock on Amdenola is that he is extremely injury prone. He hasn't been able to stay on the field the last two seasons.

He's not expected to be back with the Rams and the Eagles are also interested. Amendola to New England could make sense. The Patriots and Josh McDaniels have loved taking Rams receivers since Josh left as the St. Louis offensive coordinator. They've signed Brandon Lloyd and Michael Hoomanawanui from St. Louis and it's appearing like they could try for Amendola.

Could he come cheaper than Welker's two years, $12 million? Probably. Does it make sense to replace Wes Welker's production with someone who's not as good, injury prone for just a little bit cheaper than the cheap rate you could've had Welker at? Don't get me started on that.

I hope the Patriots have something else up their sleeve...
