New England Patriots release Austin Collie

Here's a pic of Collie's best Patriots play,
a fourth down conversion against the Saints
Patriots newly acquired wide receiver Austin Collie suffered a knee injury in Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's unclear when the injury happened, and we haven't heard much about it since he left the game. Typically, the team has been mum on the situation.

However, you can always tell a lot by the Patriots actions over their words.

Collie was missing from practice today, but a new wide receiver, reportedly former Raven LaQuan Williams was on the field. He has been signed by the Patriots, which isn't good for Collie.

It's a sad story as Collie has struggled with injuries, mainly concussions, throughout his entire year. After being released by the 49ers earlier this year, he caught onto the Patriots and quickly began rising up the ranks. He passed standout rookie Kenbrell Thompkins on the depth chart, forcing him to be inactive last week. The signing of Williams indicates that Collie's injury is serious. Very sad indeed as Collie's cinderella story is cut short.

We'll keep you updated on any further reports or official word, but Collie to IR remains a 90% possibility.
