Rob Ninkovich: "I think as far as toughness goes, this is one of the best teams I've been on"

In every season in the NFL, teams throughout the year have to deal with injuries, setbacks, and other unforeseen circumstances that come their way. When your back is up against the wall, only the teams with the willpower and mental toughness persevere. With one of the most tumultuous preseason and regular seasons for any NFL team all wrapped up, Patriots' defensive end/linebacker Rob Ninkovich aired this sentiment:

The losses the Patriots have sustained to their best players this year have been talked about ad nauseam, but here they are with a first round bye in the playoffs, with yet another chance to win a Super Bowl. With this team, and the no name players we've grown accustomed to throughout the year, it's surprising they ended up at 12-4, but at the same time, it isn't. The Denver Broncos, who finished 13-3 in the AFC and clinched the first seed, had one fourth of the critical injuries the Patriots have had and still only have one more win than New England.

It's seems that the general consensus is that the Patriots have suffered too many losses at key positions to make a legit run at the Super Bowl. That may be true, but it is also the nature of the NFL to have the most unlikely team get a chance to win it all. If New England has a couple breaks go their way, they might find themselves lifting the Lombardi Trophy in New York in February. And it all started with their unwavering toughness in the eye of adversity.
