Steve Gregory disagrees with Julian Edelman's speed "limitations"

The first volley that was fired this week in the upcoming Patriots-Broncos game this coming Sunday came from Denver safety Mike Adams. Adams said Julian Edelman doesn't have Wes Welker's "speed or quickness" and also remarked how Edelman is a "one-speed guy."

Well, New England safety Steve Gregory had something to say about Adams's assessment. What Gregory said wasn't necessarily bulletin board fodder for the Broncos' locker room, but Gregory was very clear about his view on Edelman's talent; highlighting his versatility as a receiver.

“His quickness, his top-end speed, his ability to go deep, his ability to go short, screen plays. He can do a lot at his position. The other thing with Julian is that he’s a tough guy as well. He’s a football player before he’s a receiver, and you see that with a lot of things he does out on the field on Sundays.”

With the depleted options Tom Brady had all season, the constant presence of Edelman and his value was not lost on the team and fans alike. The Welker/Edelman comparisons were somewhat inevitable throughout the season, but now as they face each other to go to the Super Bowl, those comparisons and debates on if the Patriots made the right move letting Welker go have ratcheted it up a notch this week. We as fans were constantly debating the merits of the former Patriots' star receiver and the current Patriots' star receiver. It now seems that the players are now joining in on that debate.
