Patriots haven't reached out to Brandon Spikes

Whether or not Brandon Spikes would stay with the Patriots was a heavy topic of debate before the 2013 season.

However, that debated ended when the team abruptly placed him on season ending injured reserve prior to the playoffs. As expected, the team has not been in contact about an extension for the soon to be free agent.

Boston Herald:
This shouldn't be a surprise, but there's little reason to believe Brandon Spikes will ever play again for the Patriots.

The two sides haven't spoken about a new deal this offseason, according to a source. So, unless something drastically changes, Spikes' days with the Patriots are over. He'll hit free agency March 11.

Spikes played in all 16 games for the first time in his career, but struggled late with a knee injury. He aggravated it in the season finale against Buffalo but it was not expected to cost him playing time.

Then the Patriots placed him on IR.

Reports surfaced that the team ended his season because he was late to a team meeting due to snow. Spikes agent later came out and said that the decision to put Spikes on Injured Reserve was not mutual.

This was of course the tipping point after Spikes skipped out on the team's off-season workouts to train privately.

Wondering where Spikes will land?
