Bill Belichick says WRs ahead of last year

Bill Belichick was on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday to talk about training camp. One of the things he was asked was the progression of the wide receivers in camp this year as opposed to last year.
This is a great sign, and if this translates over into the regular season, then Field Yates's recent article detailing how the Patriots can challenge the Broncos for one of the best offenses in the NFL carries more weight.

We've heard a lot about how Kenbrell Thompkins has been having a great camp so far, and much has been made about Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman. The biggest question right now is when Aaron Dobson is going to see the field. We've learned just today that he had a screw placed in his foot as a part of his surgery, so that definitely answers some questions and may quell some fans' concerns.

Another question I have, as I would imagine many other fans do, is how much can/has Brandon LaFell improved in terms of holding on to the ball. Earlier in camp we heard that he was dropping some balls thrown to him. The only reason that concerns me even a little bit is because that's what he was known for in Carolina, and no Patriots fan wants to have any sort of repeat of receivers dropping a ton of passes like last season.

That being said, he had a great practice today. But that's just one practice.

Overall, though, it is very encouraging to hear Belichick say this. There has been so much buzz generated regarding how good the defense should be, and what Belichick is saying should increase optimism and excitement that the offense is capable of being just as lethal.
