Patriots can challenge Denver for best offense according to ESPN Insider

The news of the demise of the Patriots' offense has been greatly exaggerated. I'm pretty sure that's the exact quote by Mark Twain but I could be wrong. Either way its true. When people think of the offense last year the frustrations and inefficiency stand out more than the accomplishments do.

While it lost its top five pass catchers from 2012 to free agency, injuries or the long arm of the law and relied heavily on rookies, the offense still managed to end the season as the third highest scoring offense in the league. They also ranked among the top 10 in passing yards, rushing yards, turnovers and first downs per game. So even though they struggled at times they still showed great potential.

Armed with that information ESPN Insider says that the Patriots have a chance to be a league leading offense again in 2014.

The Patriots could possibly get Rob Gronkowski healthy for the whole season and returning to his dominate form, not only in the passing game but as a crushing blocker in the run game. Pair that with the hope that second year wide outs Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins can make the second year leap and this offense can be better and more consistent that last year.
