Report: Sealver Siliga injury is "not good"

For those counting on some great defensive line depth this season, don't count your lucky stars.

Last season's suprise standout, Sealver Siliga, hurt his hand during yesterday's joint practice with the Redskins. He left practice and did not participate in today's light walktrhough.

Until now, we haven't heard much about the severity. All we have is this from Ben Volin...

Obviously, this is not much info to go on. I think it's safe to assume that Siliga will likely miss tomorrow's preseason game against Washington. Could he miss more time?

If he does, that puts bubble players like Chris Jones, Joe Vellano and Tommy Kelly in a much better position to make the team.

Siliga, Jones and Vellano all got extended reps last year when both Vince Wilfork and Kelly went down with season ending injuries. The experience they earned, one would assume, prepared them to contribute even more this season, when less would be asked of them. Still, with the top two defensive linemen coming off of major injuries, great depth is sure to be needed.

If Siliga misses major time, the Pats just lost one of their best depth options.
