Darrelle Revis throwing shade at Patriots over deflate gate

Darrelle Revis back to being a Jet. And I don't just mean he is back playing for the team. No I mean he is fully embracing what it means to be a Jet, which is saying dumb stuff.

In 2012, before he became a Patriot, he was on ESPN with future teammate Rob Gronkowski during which he called Bill Belichick a jerk. Of course the two buried the hatchet and went on to win the Super Bowl last year. But Revis has again gone back to the dark side and is throwing some major shade at his former team.

Bleacher Report

Everybody's blowing it up because it is Tom Brady," Revis told the Daily News Wednesday in his first extended comments on the Deflategate fallout. "I understand that. But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that.… Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past.

New England's been doing stuff in the past and getting in trouble," Revis said. "When stuff repeatedly happens, then that's it. I don't know what else to tell you. Stuff repeatedly happened through the years. You got SpyGate, you got this and that and everything else. Obviously in those situations in the past, they had the evidence. So they did what they needed to do

Revis maintains he didn't see any wrong doing while he was there yet has no problem jumping on the Patriots are guilty even though we don't have any evidence bandwagon. Revis doesn't owe the Patriots anything, but it would at least be tactful to refrain from commenting out of respect for his former teammates and coaches.

More puzzling is the fact that Revis doesn't agree with the NFLPA asking Goodell to recuse himself as the arbitrator in Tom Brady's appeal.

He's the judge, jury and executioner," Revis said of Goodell, who danced around whether he'll recuse himself for the Brady appeal when asked at the league meetings in San Francisco on Wednesday. "Everybody signed off on it…. Why didn't we stand up when it was time to stand up? You can talk about it after the fact, but we all agreed to it. So (the union's) got to point the finger back at (the union).

The fact that he comes out firing against the association that will have his back in a fight with the league if needed is just plain bizarre. Sure, he can say that deflate gate is the Patriots problem and not his, but the commissioner doling out unfair punishment and then being the Judge, Jury and Executioner like he said is very much his problem. Its every NFL players problem.

Its hard to say what Revis is thinking making these statements but its almost like he is playing catch up on saying stupid stuff since he spent all last year keeping his mouth shut.
