The Hits Keep Coming: Pats place LeGarrette Blount (hip) on IR

Add another one to the list, people.

Roughly an hour after CSNNE's Tom E. Curran reported the Patriots were placing defensive tackle Dominique Easley on injured reserve, Mike Petraglia of WEEI.com reported that the team has done the same with running back LeGarrette Blount.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network later confirmed Petraglia's report.

Blount's loss is another blow to the Patriots offense and the team as a whole. Blount had slowed down in recent weeks and wasn't making much of an impact in the run game, but his absence will test the depth at the position even further. With Dion Lewis already out for the season, the offense will have to rely on James White, Brandon Bolden and the recently signed Montee Ball to carry the load (barring any more changes that are likely incoming).

Blount had recorded 703 yards on 165 carries (good for a 4.3 average) this season to go along with six touchdowns. The 29-year-old posted only one 100-plus yard game this season when he racked up 129 against the Redskins back in Week 9. The last five weeks, Blount had rushing totals of 66, 56, 27, 54 and 53.
