Is Adrian Wilson what the secondary needs?
Well, what do you know?
The multiple time pro bowler and all-pro safety Adrian Wilson, just released from the Cardinals, is headed to Foxboro. At least for a visit.
If this visit goes the way others have gone this off-season, chances are he might end up signing here. Wilson could be exactly what the Patriots need at the safety spot, where they have had their fair share of issues.
The New England Patriots defense has been much aligned in recent years. Specifically the secondary. It's all with good cause too. A combination of a lack of talent and also possibly poor coaching has made passing on the Patriots seem easy. Communication back there hasn't been the best, so bringing in a veteran safety like Wilson or Ed Reed was what I (and many others) thought would be perfect to whip that unit into shape.
Now, Wilson might not be able to help the Patriots pass defense himself. The Cardinals were pulling him off the field in passing situations last year. At this point in his career he's more of a hard hitting safety, picture Patrick Chung but better, and what do you know? Chung just left for the Eagles. Even so, the Cardinals have a lot of talent on defense - particularly in the secondary - so it doesn't necessarily mean the 33 year old won't be an upgrade for New England.
If the Patriots pull off this move it'll be a huge step in the right direction. It was reported that Wilson preferred to stay closer to his family on the West Coast, but obviously he's had to alter that plan a little bit.

Former #Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson is set to visit with the Patriots, according to a source. Interesting...
