Wes Welker on Belichick, "you have to put up with him"

We all expected that as soon as Wide Receiver Wes Welker left New England for the Broncos and Peyton Manning, he'd start talking about his time in Foxborough at some point.

That's finally started now, as in the newest Sports Illustrated feature Welker gets into his relationship with Belichick. In particular he talks about last year, where things were seemingly a bit rocky.

I'm not sure whether to really take this as a total middle finger to Bill Belichick. The "endure him, put up with him" part certainly might make you think that. However, I've heard Tedy Bruschi tell stories about calling people out in the locker room. Bruschi recalled how Belichick would play film of a mistake he made in a game in front of the team for years on end. Bruschi didn't seem offended by it, and maybe Welker isn't either. As they both noted, they weren't necessarily being singled out.

Still, it's not that far fetched to think there might've been some tension between Belichick and Welker, seeing as the receiver bolted for the Broncos on a measly 2 year, $12 million deal. Welker saw his snaps drastically reduced at the beginning of last season before Aaron Hernandez went down with an injury. Reports before free-agency indicated this still bothered Welker.

Wes Welker was beloved during his time with the Patriots, but in the end, we fans only root for laundry. If Welker keeps talking, he'll more than likely hear some boos in Foxborough.

The drama and talking will only increase as we get closer to the November 24th meeting between the two teams.
