Three things to know about the Jets before tonights game
Its Patriots vs Jets tonight on Thursday Night Football. Here are three things you have to know about the Jets before tonight's game.
1. They're the Jets
Butt Fumble. That says it all.
2. Their front seven is legit
Richardson, Wilkerson, Harris, Pace. Just some of the members of that Jets front seven. Each one of them is dangerous in their own right.
Collectively they are stout against the run. Through six games they have allowed 553 yards on the ground. That's 3.5 yards per carry and an average of 92.2 yards per game. Not too shabby.
They can also get after the quarterback. They have collected 19 sacks so far, which is one off of the NFL lead (Detroit has 20). Which has helped their depleted secondary from being exposed more than it has. The secondary also lost its best player in Dee Milliner last week to a torn achilles.
If the Patriots offensive line can hold of Wilkerson and friends then Tom Brady will have a chance for big plays down the field.
3. The Rex Ryan effect
The Jets come into this game with a 1-5 record, already putting coach Rex Ryan on the hot seat. Ryan is a players coach. His players love playing for him. Last year at the end of the season the players celebrated like they had just won the Super Bowl when they announced Ryan was coming back.
With Ryan possibly coaching for his job, he will use it to motivate his players. Ryan has walked into Gillette as a big underdog before and left with a victory. If he plays his cards right he could get this team to play well above their talent level and possibly beat the Patriots.
The energy level the Jets come out with will be a good indicator if they are playing this card or not. They Patriots will need to score quick to take that emotion out the game.
